Master Class
Roshi Joan Halifax
Death as a teacher of compassion
Through her extensive experience with people in the process of dying, Roshi Joan Halifax invites us to delve deeper into the practice of mindful presence and compassion as foundations for experiencing and accompanying death.
We will explore how to cultivate a clear mind and an open heart in the face of suffering, and how to bear the presence of death or grief with equanimity and tenderness.
Module II
End-of-life support
Tew Bunnang/ Laura Cassadó
From a very practical perspective, we will address the keys and tools needed to support end-of-life processes, including the needs of the dying person, the skills, self-care strategies, and capabilities that caregivers should consider, and the most common experiences or realities in the end-of-life setting.
Module III
How to prepare for death. To live in peace. To die in peace.
Venerable Sangye Khadro
We will explore the Buddhist perspective on death, understanding it as an expression of impermanence. We will reflect on how this view contrasts with the modern Western conception, where death is a taboo.
Module IV
Wisdom and compassion at the end of life
Chagdud Khadro
The goal of this module is to provide a general framework for understanding the Buddhist view of suffering and the usefulness of mindfulness and compassion cultivation in addressing the processes of suffering, both one's own and that of others.
On the other hand, one can understand Vajrayana Buddhism's view of the process of death itself, as the dissolution of the elements, and what consciousness faces in the bardo.
Module V
Introspection with one's own death
Laura Cassadó
In this final module, participants will be guided to identify their relationship with their own death, what fears, doubts and concerns they have about it, how to make a life based on self-knowledge and compassion guide us towards a gentle death, as well as the preparation of an advance directive.
This course offers a safe and enriching space to explore these topics in depth, guided by experts and in a mutually supportive environment.
